Conference on the ‘Democratic Transformation of the Republic’ to be held

ISTANBUL — “The Democratic Transformation of the Republic in Its Second Century” will be held in Istanbul on June 13–14.
 
The conference is being organized through a joint call by numerous politicians, rights advocates, academics and artists. Discussions will focus on Turkey’s struggle for democracy, peace and equal citizenship, as well as debates on a shared future.
 
According to the conference statement, “The conference aims to strengthen efforts for democratization, social peace, pluralism, freedom, justice and coexistence, while discussing the country’s second century from the perspective of a democratic republic.”
 
A press conference introducing the speakers of the event will be held tomorrow at 13:00 at Taksim Hill Hotel in Beyoğlu, Istanbul.
