NEWS CENTER - International Amnesty has released its 2025 report. The report stated that major powers and companies have carried out attacks on international law and human rights.
International Amnesty published its 2025 report. According to the report, leaders such as U.S. President Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu follow policies of “destruction, repression, and widespread violence” in line with strategies to establish economic and political dominance. The organization's Secretary General Agnès Callamard shared the report with the public in London. Agnès Callamard stated that in 2025, these leaders continue to maintain oppressive policies on a global scale.
“The world order they propose is one that mocks and discards racial, gender and climate justice, treats civil society as an enemy, and rejects international solidarity. It is built on silencing dissent, weaponizing the law and dehumanizing those deemed ‘others’. Their vision of the world is predicated not on respect for our common humanity, but on military force, trade domination and technological hegemony. It is, ultimately, a vision with no moral compass,” said Agnès Callamard.
ENCOURAGING AGGRESSIVE POLICIES
The report emphasizes that the international system established after the Second World War has seriously eroded. According to Amnesty International, while many states violate international rules, the world is moving towards an order where "war has replaced diplomacy." The organization notes that many national leaders have been "inadequate and hesitant" in response to these developments, which in turn encourages aggressive policies.
“We are confronting the most challenging moment of our age. Humanity is under attack from transnational anti-rights movements and predatory governments determined to assert their dominance through unlawful wars and brazen economic blackmail,” said Amnesty International’s Secretary General, Agnès Callamard.
CRITICISM OF THE USA AND TRUMP
In the report that included harsh criticisms of the USA, it was stated that the Washington administration carried out "extrajudicial executions" across borders, and that its actions against Venezuela and Iran were contrary to international law. It was also stated that the Trump administration weakened decades-long gains in the field of human rights, especially women's rights.
ISRAEL'S ATTACKS ON GAZA
According to the report, the Israeli government continued its attacks on Palestinians in Gaza despite the ceasefire agreement. Amnesty International criticized the international community for "not taking meaningful steps" in this process.
Amnesty International emphasized that international institutions established after 1948 have faced "the heaviest attacks" in recent years. It was stated that political pressures on structures such as the International Criminal Court have increased. The USA's withdrawal from some international agreements and sanctions against court officials were also given as examples of this process.
MIDDLE EAST CRISIS
In the report, which stated that the current crisis in the Middle East is one of the most concrete examples of how international law is ignored, it was mentioned that the "initial illegal attacks" by the US and Israel and Iran's "uncontrolled retaliations" revealed that in the region, power politics has taken the place of law.
