French Marxist philosopher Matthieu Renault, who sent a message of support for the Peace and Democratic Society Process initiated by Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan's 27 February Call, described Abdullah Öcalan's call for the dissolution of the PKK as "a courageous step towards a political and peaceful path".

Renault included the following statements in his message sent to the Mezopotamya Agency (MA): "The Peace and Democratic Society Process speaks to a conflict between Turkey and the Kurdish people, whose human and political costs are felt daily. For decades, the Kurdish Question has brought together major struggles for emancipation and freedoms, with a significance that goes beyond the region and has reached a global dimension. Abdullah Öcalan’s call for the dissolution of the PKK represents a courageous step toward a political and peaceful path. Supporting this process affirms a regional necessity and a message for all of us, for the world: that coexistence between peoples is possible and vital."
