NEWS CENTER – Şahin, an internationalist fighter with the YPG, stated that following the defeat of ISIS, the gains of the Rojava Revolution are being targeted by Turkish-backed armed groups and new political balances in the region, and called for solidarity.

Şahin, an internationalist fighter with the YPG who has been fighting in North and East Syria since 2018, shared his assessment of recent developments in the region with Fırat News Agenct (ANF). Şahin stated that the gains achieved after the fight against ISIS are now under threat from multifaceted attacks.

Şahin, who joined the Rojava Revolution in 2018 and took part in the fight against ISIS, said that after the organisation was defeated militarily, different actors have now stepped in. Şahin emphasised that attacks by Turkish-backed armed groups and the new political balances taking shape in Syria were targeting the gains of the revolution, adding that this pressure was intensifying on the peoples of the region.

Şahin said  the following:  “Jolani, now the leader of the Syrian state, presently known as the leader of  HTS, also known before as al-Nusra and before also most commonly known as Al-Qaeda in Syria, want to smash this alternative system to the capitalist modernity that has been developed in those lands.

They want to bring back the darkness that DAESH have been trying to put upon the people of Kobane, north Rojava and north and east Syria, they want to bring it back to Kobane. All the people here are mobilized to defend the revolution, to defend the life and with one voice the people of Kobane are screaming ‘either we will live with dignity or we will die right here with dignity’.

As the revolutionaries, it is our duty to stand on the side of the people, fighting to preserve what has been achieved, to stand on the side of the people's revolution, on the side of the women's revolution and to continue the fight for freedom that is going on.

This process that has been going on in the Middle East of redesigning Middle East from imperialist forces that started recently with the genocide in Palestine and then against the attack that spreaded here in Syria more recently as of last year against the Druze community and the Alewi community with all massacre that have been happening here and now Jolani and the attacks want to bring it to the Kurdish people as we saw it in Aleppo and more recently in the region.

It is the duty of every socialist, every anti-fascist, every democrat, every people who love freedom to stand on the side of the revolution wherever you are in Europe, in Africa, in Asia and all around the world to to take a stance, to stand on the side of the revolution and to take action. For this we repeat our commitment to the defense and the victory of the revolution and Serkeftin a me ye”
