International youths who came from Germany to Mêrdîn to show solidarity with Rojava against the attacks by HTS, ISIS and Turkey-backed paramilitary groups were detained in Mêrdîn, beaten and deported.

On 28 January, 16 young people who were detained in Mêrdîn and taken to Istanbul by road were ordered to be deported. The young people, who were forcibly removed from the plane they boarded yesterday, were taken to the Airport Police Station.

It is unclear why the youths were removed from the plane, but after procedures at the station, they were beaten and put on planes bound for different cities in Germany.

It has been learned that the beaten youths will obtain medical reports documenting the beating and file complaints against Turkish officials in their home countries.
