According to the data compiled from the news in the press, 9 women were murdered by men they were married to, 1 woman by her father-in-law, 1 woman by her brother, 6 women by their partners, 1 woman by her son, 2 women by acquaintances, 3 women by relatives, 3 women by divorced men, 1 woman by separated men, 1 woman by men in the process of divorce.
It was emphasised that the massacres increased in cities such as Istanbul, Amed (Diyarbakır) and Mersin and that violence against women has become organised and systematic.
