ANKARA - DEM Party Co-chair Tuncer Bakırhan responded to a question on whether Abdullah Öcalan's statement would be video-recorded or not by saying, "Let a formula be found in accordance with the seriousness of the call."
Peoples' Equality and Democracy (DEM) Party Co-chair Tuncer Bakırhan answered the questions of journalists after the group meeting of his party in Parliament. Bakırhan was asked about KCK Executive Council Co-chair Besê Hozat's statements yesterday that Abdullah Öcalan's statement must be video-recorded.
Bakırhan said, "Kandil itself made a statement. We, too, wish that it should be on video for it to be healthier and more convincing. It is something that the government will decide together with Mr Öcalan. These are technical issues, a solution will be found. I also think that the government will decide to make this issue more convincing and more inclusive."
Answering a question about Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç's statement, "There is no legislation for video messages", Bakırhan said, "Legislation is being torn in half on many issues. Other approaches are also put forward. We say that a formula sutiable for the seriousness of the call to be made in such a historical issue must be found. And I believe it will be found."
Bakırhan pointed out that the call from Abdullah Öcalan will be made in the near future, but nothing clear can be said about the date.
DEM Party Press Office stated that no application has been made yet and that peparations for the application are ongoing.
