MÊRDÎN - "The ecological, democratic, women's libertarian form of government being built in Rojava offers a model for the solution of national, religious and cultural problems of Syria and all other countries in the region," says Ecologist participatin in the vigil on the Nisêbîn-Qamishlo border.

The vigil started at the Qamîshlo border in Nisêbîn (Nusaybin) district of Mêrdîn (Mardin) against the attacks of Turkey and the Syrian National Army (SNA) against North and East Syria continued on its 24th day.  The mass gathered in the area since the morning hours, chanted "Bijî berxwedana Rojava (Long live resistance of Rojava)" and "Jin, jiyan, azadî (Woman, life, freedom) slogans. Ecology organizations also visited the demonstration with a delegation. Ecologists carried the banner "War is the biggest ecological destruction".

'TURKEY IS CAUSING A CRISIS'

Speaking on behalf of the ecologists, Derya Akyol emphasised that they will not give up defending North and East Syria, which is the hope of the peoples to live together.

"The peoples of Rojava, who refused to be a party to the unjust war, laid the foundation for a democratic, pluralistic and libertarian life. Yesterday, massacre-scale attacks were carried out by ISIS, and today, attacks against different ethnic identities and beliefs are being carried out by HTS, which overthrew the Baath regime," Derya Akyol said.

Emphasising that Turkey's air strikes against North and East Syria are aimed at destroying the democratic gains of the peoples, "It is certain that such attacks and occupation plans will reignite the war environment in the region. At the same time, it is certain that such an attack on Rojava will have similar repercussions in Turkey," said Derya Akyol and added: "This situation prevents the people from accessing basic life assets and causes a major humanitarian crisis in the region."

'ROJAVA MODEL IS A MODEL FOR SYRIA'

Akyol continued as follows: "The ecological, democratic and women's libertarian form of government being built in Rojava offers a model for the solution of national, religious and cultural problems in Syria and all other countries in the region. As nature defenders, we see the democratic and peaceful solution of the Kurdish issue in Turkey, as in Syria, as a way to rehabilitate the ecological destruction caused by the war. Ecological restoration is possible with the foundation of peace and a democratic culture in the region. From here, we once again call on the Turkish government and regional forces to put an end to the attacks on Rojava and to take the peaceful democratic solution of the problems in Syria and Turkey as a basis."

'ROJAVA IS A MATTER OF HONOUR'

Cemil Aksu from the Polen Ecology Collective spoke next, noting that all kinds of war policies in the region affect life in the region and said, "There is an ecological, democratic and women's libertarian model in Rojava. For this reason, Rojava is a matter of honour not only for Kurds but also for the peoples of the world."

Stating that the model in Rojava must be protected, Aksu said that the model that is wanted to be created through Damascus is a model that does not benefit the peoples.
