Basboga Akkurt and Altın release after 32 years of imprisonment 2025-04-11 15:53:03   ANTALYA / XARPÊT - Ahmet Basboga, Sakir Akkurt and Muhittin Altın release after 32 years of imprisonment.    Ahmet Basboga and Sakir Akkurt were released from Antalya Döşemealtı Type S Prison after 32 years of imprisonment. Basboga and Akkurt were sentenced to life imprisonment after being arrested in 1993 for "disrupting the unity and integrity of the state". Basboga and Akkurt were welcomed in front of the prison by their relaitves and executives of the association for Association for Assistance to Families of Prisoners (TUAY-DER).    Expressing both joy and sadness, the prisoners stressed that they support Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan's "Call for Peace and Democratic Society" dated 27 February. The prisoners wished for the release of all their friends.    Basboga set off for Manisa and Akkurt for Êlih (Batman).   XARPÊT   Muhittin Altın released from Konya's Ereğli Prison after 32 years of imprisonment and he was welcomed by his family and relatives in Xarpêt (Elazığ). Muhittin Altın, who was arrested in Çewlîg (Bingöl) in November 1993, was sentenced to life imprisonment by Diyarbakır State Security Court (DGM) for "disrupting the unity and integrity of the state". Altın was imprisoned in Amed (Diyarbakır), Gümüşhane, Ankara, Balıkesir and Konya. His execution was postponed twice.    After his release, Altın came to his family house in Perçenç (Akçakiraz) town of his hometown Xarpêt. Provincial executives of Democratic Regions Party (DBP), Peoples' Equality and Democracy (DEM) Party and his family welcomed Altın. Altın flew doves during the welcome.
