Six journalists called to testify as part of “Imamoğlu” investigation

NEWS CENTRE - It has been reported that six journalists have been called to testify as part of the investigation into arrested Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu. 

In a statement issued by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was announced that journalists Soner Yalçın, Şaban Sevinç, Aslı Aydıntaşbaş, Ruşen Çakır, Yavuz Oğhan and Batuhan Çolak have been called to testify as part of the investigation into Ekrem İmamoğlu, the detained Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) and the President candidate of Republican’s Public Party (CHP). The journalists will testify at the Istanbul Police Headquarters on allegations of “publicly disseminating false information” and “aiding a criminal organisation”.
 
Journalist Ruşen Çakır stated in his virtual media account that he had not been detained. Çakır also noted that journalist Aslı Aydıntaşbaş is currently in the United States.
